How Much Does a Custom Wardrobe Cost in Singapore? (2026 Price Guide)

One of the most common questions we get: "How much does a built-in wardrobe cost in Singapore?"The honest answer is that it depends — but we can give you a much more useful breakdown than the generic "from $1,500" you see on most carpentry websites.

This guide is based on our actual 2026 pricing for HDB flats, condominiums, and landed properties in Singapore. We build custom wardrobes every week, so these numbers reflect real materials, real labour, and real hardware costs.

Quick reference: wardrobe price ranges in Singapore

TypeSizeIndicative Price
4-door HDB built-in (laminate)2.4 m × 2.4 m$2,200 – $3,200
Sliding door wardrobe (laminate)3.0 m × 2.4 m$2,800 – $3,800
Floor-to-ceiling wardrobe (veneer)3.0 m × 2.7 m$4,500 – $6,000
Walk-in wardrobe (laminate)8–12 sqm$5,500 – $9,000
Walk-in wardrobe (veneer)8–12 sqm$8,000 – $14,000
Bedroom + wardrobe packageFull room$6,500 – $12,000

These are indicative ranges. Your actual quote will depend on the five factors we break down below.

Factor 1: Dimensions

Wardrobe pricing is primarily driven by surface area — the amount of board material used. Roughly, a carpenter prices by the linear metre or square metre of panel. A 2.4 m wardrobe uses significantly less material than a 3.6 m one.

Height matters too. Standard HDB rooms have 2.4–2.5 m ceilings. Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes (common in condos with 2.7–3 m ceilings) cost more because they require more material and more precision in scribing to the ceiling.

Factor 2: Material choice

The substrate (the board inside) is usually plywood or particleboard. The exterior finish is what drives the visible cost difference:

  • Laminate (HPL or melamine): Most popular in Singapore. Thousands of colours and textures, extremely durable, moisture-resistant. Price baseline at 1×.
  • Veneer: Thin slice of real wood bonded to plywood. Genuine wood grain, premium feel. Approximately 1.4–1.6× the cost of laminate.
  • Solid wood: Teak, oak, walnut for exposed frames or panels. Highest cost, beautiful ageing. Approximately 1.8–2.2× laminate pricing.
  • Painted (spray lacquer): A smooth, clean finish. Popular for contemporary looks. Adds $60–$100/sqm over the base material cost.

Factor 3: Door type

Swing doors (hinged) are typically cheaper to produce than sliding doors because they require less hardware (no track system). However, sliding doors save floor swing space — useful in smaller HDB bedrooms.

  • Hinged swing doors: Standard cost. Work best when you have 60+ cm clearance in front.
  • Sliding 2-track system: Add $200–$400 to the base cost for a standard 2-panel track. Alemano or Hettich systems are common.
  • Bi-fold doors: Less common, can be useful for narrow spaces.

Factor 4: Hardware quality

Hardware is where cheap carpentry shows its age first. We stock three tiers:

  • Standard: Basic hinges and runners. Gets the job done.
  • Soft-close (recommended): Blum Clip Top or Hettich IntrAX hinges, Blum Tandem slides. Doors and drawers close silently. Longevity is significantly better. This adds $150–$250 to a typical wardrobe.
  • Premium push-to-open: No handles. Touch to open with integrated damper. Adds $300–$500.

Factor 5: Internal fittings

Basic wardrobes just have a hanging rail and a shelf. Adding internal fittings increases both functionality and cost:

  • Pull-out trouser rack: $150–$250
  • Tie/belt organiser: $80–$120
  • Shoe pull-out: $200–$350
  • Drawer inserts (with dividers): $120–$200 per drawer
  • Integrated LED lighting: $200–$400 per zone

Why do interior designer prices seem higher?

When you commission a wardrobe through an interior designer, the designer typically marks up the carpenter's cost by 30–60%. You're paying for their coordination service, design eye, and project management — even when you've already decided exactly what you want.

At WoodStudio.sg, you get the same craftsmen (30 years of experience), the same materials, and the same hardware — directly. No intermediary markup. The price difference on a single wardrobe is typically $700–$2,000.
